A year since we moved to Suffolk

Moving day this time last year

Today is a year to the day since we moved out of London into our new house in Hadleigh, a market town in Suffolk.
We moved in on a gloriously sunny day, with the garden overgrown with a profusion of roses.

It’s been a year of change: new schools, new jobs, new pace of life. We’ve acquired our first lawnmower, and grappled with the elderly pre-war Aga, which is rather set in its ways.

But we’ve had such a lovely year adapting to the new place, seeing more of the grandparents, picking up with old friends and starting to get to know new people.

We do miss our friends from London and Stoke Newington, but try to persuade them to come and visit us here!

Today it was sunny all over again, and I got the chance to potter round visiting the beautiful “Hidden Gardens of Hadleigh” in aid of the local church, St Mary’s, before coming back to enjoy our own (distinctly less tidy) garden with the whole family.

Here’s to many more years in Suffolk. Hopefully at some stage I may even finish unpacking all the boxes…

Yes, reckon with all the multi-generational families living in Hadleigh I'll always be a newcomer!

Love the pictures of the children 🙂

It looks like a very stress free and happy house move, bet it wasn't like that all the time though 😉

You're right, it was actually a very happy house move. It felt like a long time in the planning, but on the day itself we were so delighted to be in our new home, and the team from the local removal company (Schofield) were absolute stars. Still have boxes around the place that need unpacking, but we've just got on with living here!
